 | | | | | | | Tantramar CD | | Aulochrome: When I was in Paris with Mandala, saxophonist François Théberge invited Christine and I over to his place to have dinner with François Louis. I was really excited to meet this creator of saxophone mouthpieces. I also knew that he invented an instrument that somehow fused two soprano saxophones together. To my surprise François Louis had brought the Aulochrome to Théberge’s place and we could try it out! I loved it right away. Later, when I got back to Montreal, I was working on an idea and I realised it sounded like what I had played on the Aulochrome. | | |
| | Selections from Find a Way, Playgrounds and Sky Beneath My Feet | | Georgie is a song I learned off a Doc Watson record. I changed it to a blues form and added a King Crimsonish guitar part. Joel Miler (tenor saxophone) Eric St.Laurent (12 string guitar), Kevin Coady (drums), Brian Hurley (bass), Tilden Webb (piano). Blues Trick was originally recorded for CBC's Jazz Beat. I put it on my 1998 album Playgrounds. Weird Dream comes from the album Sky Beneath My Feet. It features poetry by my brother, Nate, the California Mambo and samples of the Humpback whale. | | |
| | Mandala Live | | This is my favorite version of Rashers. I like the way we locked together as a band. Big Tiny is taken from one of our concerts in Vancouver. This version of Anonymity comes from our show at Lion D'or and features vocalist Christine Duncan. | | |
